I'm sorry for having been awol. Life happens, shit goes down and I just gotta be on top of things, eh? I love being on top, it's my favourite position (as in winning ni o, get your dirty mind outta the gutter!:-)) What's yours?
To say that I am passionate about Nigeria would be an understatement- hence a good chunk of my ramblings on this platform has been about Nigeria. Scratch that! As a matter of fact, all my musings (albeit few and far between :-)) has been Nigeria related. See, once one gets into the issue of Nigeria and it's politics, one finds one completely embroiled and to wriggle out of the tight loop becomes less of an easy task.
I pondered on what to say, where to start, but ideas fail me. Should I muse over the incessant Boko Haram attacks or should I beat the NASS issue even further? Perhaps I could discuss the effects of the United State's Gay Marriage legalisation on Nigeria but that too just seemed like an over flogged dead horse. I dare not mention the slow pace it appears our commander- in -chief has chosen to move nor would I concern myself with the fact that he has not seen any need to give us a glimpse of his gap tooth and charming smile since the day of his inauguration. Baba has simply shut us out of his business and would rather let his work or lack there of speak for itself. Baba has no time for paparazzi. However, when I see Obama address his people, I begin to long to see Baba's gap tooth again. What exactly is in Aso-Rock that turns these leaders into recluses?
How I long to see that gap tooth in a nationwide address... |
Baba doing what we like to see him doing but it seems the AC in that office is too cool. Baba has refused to venture out into the hot blazing Nigerian sun. |
Hey, some good news seems to be trickling in though. I read that a past the past governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido was together with his sons, remanded in prison pending hearing for bail applications in September. The past governor together with his two sons are said to be facing graft allegations of receiving N1.35 billion bribe from government contractor. In other news, the EFCC may just have awoken from its long Jonathan induced coma and now charging a 'big man' for pension scam or so i've been made to believe. Either way, I care less as since seeing Fani-Kayode freed for his misdeeds; and under this dispensation which I thought would move in swiftly to strengthen our judiciary, my enthusiasm for a less corrupt Nigeria has waned. Yes- yes, call me impatient and show yourself as a hypocrite after all I am only displaying my Nigerian trait. We have not been known to be patient with getting performance from our government so don't you go crucifying me now. Nigerians have been beaten black and blue by successive inhumane and insensitive government that it would not be out of place for them to demand immediate action from a man they fought vigorously against all odds to hand their mandate.
Oh yeah, didn't I see an image of Dogara alighting from a jet recently? Hahaha...so much for the campaign for change. Nigeria, seems like the less you look, the more you see. At times like this, I feel used and abused. I sometimes wish that I never really campaigned for the change. Let's call a spade a spade. Buhari's government has been hijacked by charlartans and the only person whom I see capable to get him out of this mess is the same man he has distanced himself from and has unequivocally stated that he does not belong to.
Change na ni.. |
Well...it's not all doom though. I still reserve some optimism that he would pull out a trick from his hat but I am most certainly not holding my breath.
So how was your day?
